SSCM is happy to offer an After School Recreation Program for the children of SSCM in grades 1-6.  The children can socialize and enjoy structured and non-structured games from 2:45 - 3:45 in the gym.  The 7th & 8th grade students volunteer as helpers.  They assist the teacher in supervising the games and interacting with the children.  The volunteers receive credit for community service.  The money collected from this program funds gym equipment for the school.  The program runs for 12 weeks as follows:

Monday: Grades 1 & 2
Tuesday: Grades 3 & 4
Wednesday: Grades 5 & 6

SSCM offers a band program for grades 4-8. Our band members participate in our Christmas and Spring concerts each year. Many of our band members join in NYSMA.

Our students are encouraged to solve their problems with other students through a faculty monitored peer review.  Students wishing to be conflict mediators must be in good academic standard and have the recommendation of their teachers.  Students are also required to keep information from conflict mediation sessions confidential.

Students in 5th and 7th grades participate in our D.A.R.E. Program where they learn drug and alcohol resistence from Suffolk County Police officers that come to our school.  A graduation is held with T-shirt and course completion certification.
