Process



  1. Introduce the topic of Immigration in the United States and the reasons for people leaving their homelands.
  2. Present the background of the first wave of immigration to the United States. Students will become aware of the areas of settlement, contributions, and the problems of assimilation in a new environment.
  3. Introduce multi-media research strategies in the classroom, the library, and the computer lab, focusing on information literacy and technology skills.
  4. Perform tasks on the WebQuest.
  5. Visit the Ellis Island Museum.
  6. Participate in Immigration Exhibit Day
  7. Evaluate students' work and performance according to New York State Standards.
